5-Minute Meter Productions is a circle of innovative media professionals. Since 1992, we have been spawning original ideas and creating vibrant media for clients in virtually every industry on Earth.

5-Minute Meter Productions was established in 2000 by Joel Sacramento. Following his completion of film school in 1992, Joel submerged himself in Chicago's diverse production scene. Initially, he freelanced for a wide variety of production houses with gigs ranging from boom operator and videographer to off-line editor and script supervisor.

In 1997, Joel took a staff position as Feature Producer/Cinematographer with Midwest Outdoors Television, an internationally syndicated television show dedicated to "Helping People Enjoy the Outdoors". At Midwest Outdoors, Joel had the opportunity to travel throughout North America, surrounding himself with bears, eagles, moose and extraordinarily hefty fish. He filmed from speeding boats, out of tiny airplanes, while wading in rivers and on top of frozen lakes, using big heavy cameras and underwater video equipment (and never once got seasick).

In 1999, Joel founded 5-Minute Meter Productions, Inc. and has been traveling the world, producing and directing an array of projects ever since.Today, in addition to his roles as Producer/Director of Meter Studio, Joel actively pursues independent film projects and relishes the art of shooting and editing film, video and photographs.

About the Name

While walking through a lively intersection in downtown Chicago during the winter of 1999, Joel watched as a frazzled tourist rifled through her purse in search of change to feed the meter. After finally locating a quarter, the anxious woman quickly dropped her coin into the slot. Sheer shock and disgust overcame the poor woman when she examined the meter and discovered that her quarter bought her only five minutes of shopping time on Michigan Avenue. The woman's heavy sigh filled the brisk city air and a name was born. Welcome to the big city, sister. Try taking the bus.
